Games I’m In The Middle Of Playing

It’s been a while since I wrote an update on all the games that haven’t yet made it to the site, so to remind me, and make a few of you smile, here’s a list of games I am currently playing (that is to say, intend to get back to soon). In no particular order.

1 - Kingdom Hearts [PS2]

I promised Jen I’d complete this again because I refuse to talk Kingdom Hearts with her until I’ve gone through the whole set and am up to date with the storyline. This means I have to do KH1, Recoded, KH2, 358/2 days and Birth By Sleep. It’s daunting. I know I’ll get into it if I actually sit down to do it but as yet the desire hasn’t come.

2 - Civilisation IV [Mac]

I got this the other day and have spent a few evenings playing it. It’s great, but not as good as Civ 1 was in my opinion and it’s different enough that my Civ 1 tactics no longer work. So it’s a huge game and I need to learn to get better.

3 - Final Fantasy IV [DS]

I CANNOT BELIEVE I have stalled on this at the end boss. I deserve a slap.

4 - Rainbow Islands [Amiga]

I am so determined to complete this game one day. It’s hard to get anywhere, but I feel like practice and perfection need to occur. Another ‘twenty years of play’ game.

5 - Advance Wars: Dark Conflict [DS]

A great game let down by its final level (why does this happen so much). I’m on the end level where strategy (which you have been honing for many many hours) goes out the window and is replaced by random bad guy spawning and random unit kills. It’s frustrating because all you need to beat it is luck, and it’s no longer about strategy so much.

6 - Fallout 3 [PS3]

A game which started out like a revelation in amazingness (OK, bad sentence, I agree) and ended up a slow monotonous slog through identical looking terrain. Part of me wants to go back and finish it and part of me wants to chuck it in a bin for being such a let down after an almost perfect beginning.

7 - A Boy and His Blob [Wii]

The only reason I haven’t finished this is that when I went back to it to finish it, my save file had mysteriously died and I was back at the beginning. Thus, to complete it, I have to do all the levels I have all ready done all over again. That sort of thing can put a dampener on things.

8 - Infamous [PS3]

I keep promising myself I’ll load it up, and then I started playing Fallout 3; what am I like?

9 - Mini Ninjas [PS3]

The game that was so good until I played Ratchet and Clank and realised it just wasn’t as good as Ratchet and Clank in any way. Still, well worth going back to! Great fun and I can’t be that far from done.

10 - New Super Mario Bros Wii [Wii]

I’ve been playing this with Jen’s brother and it’s fun when I do that. Then I try to play on my own and it’s annoying and crap. Thus my progress is limited to when he’s about!

11 - Pokémon Pearl [DS]

ALMOST completed this (well, I’ve done all the gym bosses and completed the main storyline thing but I need to do the elite four or whatever they are called). A little bit more and I can review it. I’d have finished it, but Dragon Quest IX came out..!

12 - Prince of Persia - The Sands of Time [PS2]

I’m about 60% through this in my re-run and I stalled because of other games. Will get back to it soon though!

13 - Perfect Dark Zero [XBox 360]

Enjoying this a lot, but I stalled on a bad guy, had to lower the difficulty and now feel like a n00b continuing on ‘easy’. Ah well!

14 - Gears of War [XBox 360]

Great fun in small bursts. I’ve played quite a bit of this, but I always seem to take big gaps before getting back to it. Currently in a gap.

15 - Mirror’s Edge [PS3]

Love this, but stuck because I want to not fire a gun and I’m at a bit where I really need to shoot the people to get them out of the way… What I actually need is to get better at avoidance!

That’ll do for now! :) See how much there is to play and how little time there is?? Feel sorry for me!
