A Christmas Haul
Well, I must say I did quite well for myself in computer-game-based Christmas presents this year, what with the day itself and then the quick run around the game shop sale with some Christmas money when we got back…
Mixing the new games in with the old, the next few months of play look something like this:
Gears of War - XBox 360
I started this, forgot about it, played Vanquish on someone else’s PS3, realised how Vanquish was what Gears of War would be if it were done right (Vanquish is excellent) and not having Vanquish, came back and restarted Gears of War, so this is back in the frame. That said, I also have…
Vanquish - PS3
Yup, this is what GoW would look like if it had colour, vibrancy and was just, well, better. I got this after having such fun playing it and though I haven’t opened my copy yet, I know exactly what I’m in for and it’s great.
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed - PS3
This is awesome fun but maaaaaaaan, the boss fights are hard! I’ve been blitzing this the last few days and already want the sequel. Some of the worst lip synching ever though, except for Darth Vader, who is spot on!
FEAR - PS3
Trying out some more of those horror games, FEAR finds its way into my collection. I had a quick go and while I can see what they are doing, this game just feels a little old when compared to everything else I’ve played in the last while.
Dragon Age Origins - PS3
I haven’t even had the guts to put this into the machine. Everyone tells me it is awesome and it’ll take 100 hours or so and while that calls to me, I’m wondering where those 100 hours are going to come from, still, I won’t be able to resist for long.
Time Crisis - PS3
We got a Move and the Time Crisis game which is pretty good fun, and I’m hoping to blast my way through all three games on the disc.
Prince of Persia Trilogy - PS3
Sands of Time AGAIN? I’m not sure if I’m pleased or not that these three games were remastered and released for the PS3 a few weeks after I decided to replay them on the PS2. Of course I want PS3 versions, but do I want to run through Sands of Time again so soon just to get the trophies?! I did load it up though and smile…
Professor Layton 3 - DS
I was looking forward to this, but I feel I need to be willing to dedicate an entire day and night to it, to make sure I play it without a break and enjoy it to the full (after all, not doing so was what marred my enjoyment of number two), and at the moment there’s something else stuck in my DS…
Chrono Trigger - DS
I finally have this and while it is excellent, I seem to have taken one of those breaks from it. Must dive back in.
Bioshock and Bioshock 2 - PS3
I bought these for super cheap after being told I needed them. To be honest, I have no idea what it’s all about, but it looks atmospheric enough.
InFamous - PS3
Why I haven’t gone back to this game is bizarre. I just need to rotate it in and I’ll probably play it for a few evenings hardcore and be done.
Bayonetta - PS3
I played one go of this, loved it and then got annoyed by a hard fight and shelved it. Soon I’ll drag it out again.
A Boy and his Blob - Wii
This one keeps calling to me. I got annoyed when my save file got wiped and didn’t want to go back for a while, but that annoyance has faded and soon I’ll be back on the case of the small boy and his incredibly atmospheric game.
Tower Madness - iOS
Ah yes, now I have an iPod Touch too. This tower defence game is really good and REALLY hard. If it weren’t so hard, I’d be able to review it, proud in the fact I had completed it, but I can’t because I haven’t, because it is HARD. There are some levels which I flop around at like a wet fish. Great game. Very hard. May review it before I’ve completed all the levels on the basis that I did finish the main set of levels before I bought the bonus ones; that counts, right?
There are more, of course, but these are the ones that stand out right now. With Dead Space 2 coming out soon, Final Fantasy XIV on the horizon and a good few others, I’d best get playing!
